How to use OneDrive on your laptop

Files & OneDrive

OneDrive is Microsoft cloud storage. On school devices, your school account is used for Windows, Microsoft 365 and OneDrive. When OneDrive is running and signed in, your school files are backed up automatically and available when you sign in on another school device.

Backed up automatically: files saved in your school OneDrive, including synced Desktop and Documents folders where these are enabled, should copy to the cloud as long as OneDrive is running and signed in.

Check OneDrive is working

  1. Look for the cloud icon near the clock.
  2. A blue cloud usually means OneDrive is signed in.
  3. If you see a grey cloud, open it and sign in with your school account.
  4. Save school documents in your OneDrive, Desktop or Documents folders rather than only in Downloads.

Useful folders

Use clear folders for subjects, homework and projects. A tidy file system is boring until the exact moment it saves your work.
