Phishing messages try to trick you into giving away passwords, opening unsafe files or visiting fake websites.

Warning signs

  • The message creates panic or pressure.
  • The sender address looks wrong or unfamiliar.
  • It asks for your password, codes or personal information.
  • The link does not match the organisation it claims to be from.
  • There are unexpected attachments.

What to do

Do not click the link or reply. Take a screenshot if useful, then tell your form tutor or a trusted member of staff.
